Unlike a typical ocean-only paddling session, the Fukido River area offers a memorable contrast of sheltered mangrove scenery and the nearby coast. Watch the reflections of tropical greenery on the water, take in the island’s relaxed atmosphere and experience a different side of Ishigaki away from the busiest sightseeing spots.
Your guide is a friendly, entertaining German instructor who normally leads activities in English. Complimentary pickup is offered; the exact pickup area and meeting time must be confirmed in advance.
Choose your activity: Kayak or SUP
Kayaking: Enjoy a seated paddling experience, ideal for travellers who prefer a relaxed way to explore the water and appreciate the scenery. Ask in advance about equipment, group arrangements and suitability for children.
Stand-up paddleboarding (SUP): Experience the mangroves from a different perspective, standing or kneeling on a paddleboard. The instructor explains the basics and adjusts the activity to participants’ experience and the conditions.
Prices per person
Kayak — Regular session: ¥7,000
Kayak — Sunset session: ¥8,000
SUP — Regular session: ¥8,000
SUP — Sunset session: ¥9,000
Sunset sessions cost an additional ¥1,000 per person; this surcharge is already included in the sunset prices above. Activity type and session are selected within the same booking service. Exact sunset availability depends on season, tides, weather and instructor scheduling.
Mangroves, coastal waters and beaches
Mangrove river: Paddle along the lush Fukido River environment and observe Ishigaki’s subtropical coastal vegetation from the water.
Coastal views: When wind, waves and tides are suitable, your instructor may include nearby coastal paddling and views across the open sea.
Sandy beach scenery: Depending on the route and conditions, there may be an opportunity to enjoy a beach area. The sea and beach portions are not guaranteed on every tour.
Location and transport
Location: Fukido River (Fukidō-gawa / 吹通川), northern Ishigaki Island, Okinawa, Japan.
Complimentary pickup is available, subject to confirmation of your hotel or pickup point and the instructor’s operating area. Please do not assume every hotel or cruise terminal is included until confirmed.
The booking system currently uses an approximately 120-minute reference duration. Actual pickup, start and finish times will be provided when the booking is confirmed.
What to bring
Towel, drinking water, sunglasses, sunscreen, sandals or flip-flops, swimwear, cash, and a waterproof phone pouch or case. Protect valuables and electronics against water exposure.
Information required for each participant
Please provide your preferred date and session, full name, number of guests, accommodation or pickup location, and each participant’s height, weight, gender and age. These details help with safety checks and equipment arrangements.
How to book
Submit your preferred activity and time through the single booking service below. Requests are subject to availability and manual confirmation. Your reservation is only confirmed once the activity details have been approved and the required deposit has been paid.
Cancellation and refund policy
Cancellation 14–4 days before the activity: the activity charge may be cancelled without charge, but the deposit is non-refundable.
Cancellation within 3 days of the activity, on the day, or no-show without prior notice: the deposit is non-refundable, and the local activity operator will additionally charge 100% of the activity price.
If your flight or cruise is cancelled and you provide cancellation evidence: no charges apply and the deposit is refunded in full.
If the local operator cancels the activity because of weather or sea conditions: no charges apply and the deposit is refunded in full.
Safety and frequently asked questions
Is this suitable for first-time paddlers? Both kayaking and SUP may be suitable for beginners, but eligibility and conditions must be checked with the instructor before confirmation.
Will we definitely visit the sea and beach? No. The instructor selects the safest suitable route based on tides, wind, waves and water levels.
Is the guide English-speaking? Yes. The instructor is German and normally guides in English.
Is pickup included? Complimentary pickup is offered, but please confirm the pickup area and time before paying the deposit.
Can cruise passengers join? Ask us with your ship name, port arrival time and all-aboard deadline. Participation depends on timing, transport and safe return arrangements.
